The Swiss Best Practices for the Reprocessing of Flexible, Thermolabile Endoscopes (BPRE) were published in September by Swissmedic, in collaboration with other associations active in the field, including the SSSH, with an appendix containing a checklist indicating how and what needs to be prepared in one's own department or medical practice in preparation for an inspection by the competent authorities.
The requirements relate in particular to the internal organization of endoscope reprocessing, storage, routine checks, and the frequency of these checks on endoscopes and equipment. Regular checks (validations) of the equipment used for reprocessing are of crucial importance.
